OUR CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES
Tennesseans for Conservative Action believes that the Constitution is the guide which should shape thoughtful debate and dialogue over policy. These Constitutional principles have been proven as the best and most sure vehicles for individual freedom, economic success, and self-governing.
Freedom In The Workplace
Strengthening Tennessee’s Right-to-Work laws and promoting greater economic liberty for the free worker are fundamental to our state’s economic success. TCA believes that no government at any level should mandate or subsidize labor union participation, nor should it support the political activity of labor unions through taxpayer-supported dues-collections. TCA supports strengthening our state’s Right-to-Work law to protect the conscience and religious freedom of public employees and taxpayers.
GIVING PARENTS A CHOICE IN EDUCATION
School choice is the key parents need to unlock the full potential of their children. In public education, an untamed government bureaucracy spends excessively with little return in the form of educated students prepared for employment or continued academic attainment. Parental school choice applies the welcomed force of competition and freedom to this bureaucracy. Whether through tax credits, vouchers, charter schools, open enrollment requests, college lab schools, virtual schools, career and technical education programs, TCA calls on Tennessee to reject the one-size-fits-all approach to education, and to empower families with the right to escape failing government-run schools.
Creating A Simpler Tax System
Tennesseans deserve a tax system that is simple, transparent, flatter, and fair that incentivizes work, savings and investment.
LOCAL CONTROL OF OUR SCHOOLS
Only in sectors controlled by government bureaucracy and labor unions is power concentrated and exclusively held by those who benefit from the bargaining process rather than the result of their work. TCA will highlight the common sense recognition and understanding of value by promoting local and State control of our education system over the cooperation of a centralized bureaucracy and labor union. Demonstrating the consumer rights coupled with responsibilities within education will serve as the most important driving force for renewing a truly local education experience.
CUTTING SPENDING AND DEBT
Legislation and executive government must reduce tax and regulatory burdens on all Tennesseans while rejecting any deficit spending. Keeping more money in the hands of Tennesseans and out of the hands of unaccountable bureaucrats should be the goal of all elected officials.
